When you think of any black vegetable, or black fruit, I'm sure delicious and tasty aren't the first words that come to mind, but you might want to give these beauties a try! Black tomatoes are among the most flavorful and delicious varieties that you can grow.

Black Cherry Tomato

Black Cherry Tomatoes are not the most visually appealing fruit on the planet, but they sure are delicious. Like most of the Black Tomatoes in our seed shop, Black Cherry Tomatoes will go great in salads, or eaten as a snack. The plants are indeterminate and will grow to a mature height of roughly 6 to 8 feet tall. They can also spread to a width of 3 feet wide. Each fruit will grow to about 1.5 inches in diameter, displaying a dark red, almost brown color. The use of stakes and / or a trellis can be beneficial in growing Black Cherry Tomatoes, since the fruits can pull the vines downwards.

Black From Tula Tomato

Black From Tula produces beesteak like tomatoes with a red-black outer skin. The plants reach a mature height of about 4 feet tall, producing large, 14 ounce fruits throughout the summer months, up until mid to late Fall. Because Tomato plants are categorized as an annual plant, they will grow quickly from seeds, produce their fruits for a few weeks, and will later die with cooler temperatures and frost. Tomato plants are popularly grown all over the United States in many home gardens. Black From Tula dates back to the late 1990's, providing delicious meaty fruits every year for tomato lovers across America.

Black Sea Man Tomato

Black Sea Man Tomatoes are possibly one of the ugliest yet delicious tomatoes grown in gardens across North America. This Russian heirloom can be established from freshly harvested Solanum lycopersicum seeds. The fruits of the Black Sea Man Tomato are dark green and burgundy-red, weighing anywhere from 12 to 16 ounces. They are ready for harvesting roughly 75 days after transplanting. Black Sea Man Tomato plants will mature to a height of about 4 feet tall and will require stakes or supports to hold the vines up.

Black Krim Tomato

Black Krim is a Russian heirloom that was introduced in 1990. These ugly, yet delicious fruits weigh roughly 8 to 16 ounces and are ready for harvesting in about 70 days after transplanting. Black Krim ripens from green to dark red, with a brown tint. With the proper sunlight and heat, the fruits can sometimes appear almost black. Black Krim is one of the most delicious tomatoes you will ever taste.

Cherokee Purple Tomato

Add another ugly tomato to your eyesore list, with Cherokee Purple. But don't let its appearance fool you, these hideous fruits boast a deliciously sweet flavored flesh. The Cherokee Purple Tomato is grown from freshly harvested Solanum lycopersicum seeds, producing fruits in about 75 to 90 days from transplanting. The dark, burgundy-red, almost brown fruits will weigh anywhere between 10 to 12 ounces.
